What to expect
Here’s a plain walk-through of what actually happens, from your first appointment onward — so none of it has to be a surprise.
Your first appointment
The first visit is a conversation before it’s anything else. You’ll talk through what’s brought you in, your history, and what you’ve already tried, and Dawn will ask questions — often more than you’re expecting — to understand the whole picture, not just the symptom in front of her. It’s an assessment and a conversation first; a prescription, if one makes sense, comes out of that conversation, not ahead of it.
Follow-up visits
Follow-ups are shorter than the first visit and focus on how things are actually going — what’s working, what isn’t, and whether anything needs to change. How often you’re seen depends on where you are in treatment: more often while a plan is being adjusted, further apart once things are steady. Changes to your plan are made deliberately, not automatically.
Fees
| Visit type | Fee |
|---|---|
| Initial session | $295 |
| Standard follow-up visit | $245 |
Cash pay is accepted. A Balanced Mind PC also accepts most major insurance plans — see the full list on the home page. Coverage varies by plan, so please verify your benefits before your first visit.
What to bring
- A photo ID
- Your insurance card, if you’re using insurance
- A current list of your medications, including dose and how long you’ve been taking each one
- Any prior records or discharge paperwork you have, if this isn’t your first time seeking care
Working alongside your therapist
Dawn is not a therapist, and this practice doesn’t provide talk therapy. If you already see a therapist, she’ll work alongside them — medication management is meant to support the work you’re doing in therapy, not replace it. If you don’t have a therapist yet, she’ll help you find one.
What this practice doesn’t do
- Talk therapy — Dawn manages medication and reinforces the therapy work you’re doing elsewhere.
- Care for patients under 17. This practice sees adults, ages 17 and up.
